Where Were You on 911?

As we approach the 20th Anniversary of 911, we all remember where we were when seeing the planes strike the Twin Towers in New York City, and the Twin Towers crumbling. My brother, Rick Wood, a photojournalist, was there on 911, covering a story for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel newspaper, which you may read in their archives. He had just photographed our wedding in August 2021 in Denver, Colorado.

My husband John was in Ventura moving furniture into our condo, and I was still working for Wells Fargo Bank at the Cash Register Building in Denver when we saw the second plane hit. My boss immediately sent all the team members home. The city block where the Twin Towers were hit is sacred ground, a holy place, for those resting in peace there. We were able to honeymoon in our Ventura Keys condominium our first year of marriage. Betsey was able to transfer from Denver's Private Client Services Oil, Gas, Minerals to Wells Fargo Bank Private Client Services in Santa Barbara, CA. We will never forget 911.

God Bless America!
