Medal of Honor Awarded to Vernon Baker - WW II Veteran

Vernon Baker, received the Medal of Honor in 1997

As we celebrate the 4th of July this year, 2021, unmasked, flags waving, and Veteran's groups parading, let us never ever forget the sacrifice of our soldiers. Let's honor and thank them in person. The 4th of July Parade in Ojai, California will be on July 3, 2021 this year. The Veterans of Foreign War float leads the Parade at 10:00 a.m. The 4th of July Parade in Montecito, California will be on Sunday, July 4, 2021. Veterans of all wars will be leading the parade 11:00 a.m. God bless them all, and God bless the USA. We Americans proudly wave our American flag, the red, white, and blue. God of our Fathers. God bless you, Veteran, and God Bless America!

We remember and honor Vernon Baker, a DAV lifetime member and courageous warrior, who became the first living African American World War II Medal of Honor recipient. He was one of the seven Black World War II Army veterans to receive the Medal of Honor in 1997. More than half a century had passed between the day he led a fearless attack in German-occupied Italy during World War II to when President Bill Clinton presented Baker with the nation’s highest award for valor. He received the Army Medal of Honor, Purple Heart, and Bronze Star Medal.

Patton Theatrical Movie Trailer

A critically acclaimed film that won a total of eight Academy Awards® (Including Best Picture), Patton is a riveting portrait of one of the 20th century's greatest military geniuses. George Patton was the only allied general truly feared by the Nazis. Charismatic and flamboyant, Patton designed his own uniforms, sported ivory-handled six-shooters, and believed he was a warrior in past lives. He out-maneuvered Rommel in Africa, and after D-Day led his troops in an unstoppable campaign across Europe.
