In the Episcopal Church, what does the term "Day of Pentecost" mean? The Day of Pentecost is the seventh Sunday after Easter, and it is referred to as "the fiftieth day" in the Old and New Testaments. It is a celebration of the Holy Spirit breathing life into the body of Christ, which is the Church, and sending it out into the world. On Pentecost Sunday, both the clergy and the congregation wear red vestments, symbolizing the work of the Holy Spirit.
