“Someday you will read or hear that Billy Graham is dead. Don’t you believe a word of it. I shall be more alive than I am now. I will just have changed my address. I will have gone into the presence of God.” Billy Graham
As a Southern Baptist minister and evangelist, Rev. Billy Graham was preacher of our 100 years, just like Dwight Moody was the preacher for the 1800’s. In Washington D.C. there will be a two-day viewing, part of a nine day mourning for America’s most famous evangelist, who died at 99-years old in his North Carolina mountain home. He will be laid to rest March 2 at the Billy Graham headquarters in a simple prison-made coffin, built by inmates at the Louisiana State Penitentiary next to his dear wife, Ruth, who died in 2007.
According to ABS News, “Graham's son the Rev. Franklin Graham toured the prison in 2005 and said he was so moved by the simple boxes lined with a mattress pad with a wooden cross nailed to the top that he asked for ones for his mother and father.”
On his tombstone will be engraved, “Preacher of the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.” Rev. Billy Graham’s message was that God loves you, whether a Queen or a homeless woman on the streets. God loves you. He spiritually advised all Presidents, Democratic or Republican, as they called upon him from Harry Truman to Donald Trump. He began his ministry in Los Angeles in 1947, right after W.W.II. He will be laid to rest in North Carolina at the end of the week, at a family gathering.
He will be honored in the U.S. Capitol Rotuda next week, this Wednesday, February 28, in Washington D.C. rotunda. Pray for God's love and God's peace as people of all walks of life show their respect and thanksgiving for him and his life of faithfulness to Jesus Christ.
