25th Anniversary of the Workers

So thankful President Trump signed the tariff proclamation of March 8, 2018 to honor the working men and working women of America, bringing manufacturing jobs back to the USA!  Thank you Sir!

We back-office bank workers and team-members-for- life of Norwest Bank (Minneapolis, Minnesota) which was bought by Wells Fargo Bank (San Francisco, California) were and still are close after 25 years (1990-2016).  The same crew of ladies, many single Moms, worked 40 hour weeks, various shifts, in downtown Denver, Colorado in the Cash Register Building.  Our jobs were entry-level, minimum wage jobs, clerical jobs, but we were all thankful to have been hired and gave 100% to our employer:  Jean, Alberta, Marlene, Betsey, Joanniepony, Melode.  Some have passed on now, or are retired, but the memories of each department we worked in are still precious to us all.  From the mail room, starting at the bottom, graveyard shifts (11pm-8am), not enough money to have a car, so we had to bus it to work, in the snow, walking alone at Colfax and Broadway at 10:30pm at night, a very dangerous place, and not one lady was ever assaulted, for we all must have had our guardian angels watching over us.  Single Moms, with no alimony or child support, but determined not to be on welfare, and wanted the dignity of manual labor and the ability to provide a roof over our children's heads, food on the table, and clothes, warm coats, and shoes for school each September.

We worked the mail room, lock box, master card/visa, treasury, tax, and loan, encoding, teller statement reconciliation, oil, gas and minerals, data entry, brokerage, trust departments.  We were the back-bone of the Bank, not Management, but the workers, and proud of it.  We didn't eat at restaurants for our 1/2 hour lunch, but brought our own sandwiches.  We had the best Bosses ever:  Dan, John, Gary, Vicki, Vicki, Tim, Michael and we all got awards for our productivity.

Four of us gals decided to take a week-end off, away from kids and work and bosses and the bank and head up to Estes Park, Colorado and the hot tub at McGregor Mountain Lodge.  Marlene, Joanniepony, Melode, and Betsey made their way up the Mountain, in the snow, and had a blast all weekend.  Laughing, De-Stressing, visiting the Christmas Store, and keeping memories and pictures of that time for life.

Another outing was the Cheyenne Rodeo in Cheyenne, Wyoming.  Laughs, fun, no stress, togetherness.  We workers were one at work, at home, and on vacation.

Two of the bank workers, both retired now, Joanniepony, of New York, a Grandma, and Betsey of Southern California, a Grandma, picked up today, March 9, 2018, just where they left off, by phone, laughing and remembering the fun we had at Estes Park, many, many years before.

We honor the next generation of workers.  Find a good company to work for and stay your 25-30 years, get your gold watch, honor your Boss, be a good team member, do your best, don't slack, be on time, don't listen to the negative, but focus on the positive.  Be content with your wages, even if small.  Don't ask for hand-outs.  Work for your own food, clothing, and shelter.  Be proud.  You will eventually be rewarded for your loyalty and expertise.  Live simply.  Cherish your 40 hours, live within your means, and, most of all, cherish your children and your family, and, as the song says, "Thank you, worker, for your time."
