EDUCATION
Mrs. Betsey Gooch Stewart lives with her husband John in Santa Barbara, California. Betsey was born in Richmond, Virginia. She has a Bachelor's in English and a Master's in Educational Administration. She taught junior high and high school English for four years. She was a college events planner and co-owned a computer marketing company for fourteen years.
WORK HISTORY
Betsey received her Certified Nursing Assistant's License from the Visiting Nurses School and worked in private duty and hospice care. Betsey was a bank accounting clerk for ten years. When she received her Certificate of Completion for the California approved Activity Leader Course in 2004, Betsey was Activities Care Manager for two Alzheimer's Units in an Assisted Living Facility. As the Weekend Activities Director of a skilled nursing facility, she received 5-Stars by State Surveyors, and was Activities Director for a Board and Care. Betsey is currently a retired California Activity Director, SCAAP.
ACTIVE RETIREMENT
After twelve years as Activities Director in various facilities and private duty home assignments, Betsey retired and has led an Active Retirement for the last five years, volunteering "giving back." She led tea-time, sing-a-longs, crafts, and hospice visitations, and edited books for seniors in long-term care facilities.
John and Betsey Stewart are All Saints By-The-Sea Episcopal Church members in Montecito, California. Betsey, a born-again Christian, intercedes for prayer requests and prays with the hospice patients when asked. Her heart is for the 90, 100, and 107 year old seniors, Veterans, and their Widows and Widowers surviving WII, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. Betsey is 78 years old and loves her retirement years as a volunteer to the elderly in her village and the cities around it.
